Andrea L. “Aunni” Young, a social writer & published journalist, has written high profile social, fashion, community, political and entertainment news stories for  the Afro American Newspaper, a Washington, DC & Baltimore regional newspaper that targets the African American and related urban community.  Recently, Aunni’s exclusive published articles include interviews with Valerie Ashford, Eriq La Salle, Marvin Sapp, Leon (the Five Heartbeats), Steve Harvey & Michael Ealy – Think Like a Man Movie, Russ Parr, executive producer for The Undershepherd movie and Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Chairman & Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II.

Aunni is the CEO and designer of Aunni Y Design : AYD. Aunni is a marketing consultant, industrial engineer, educator, professional model, makeup artist, and designer.  In the fashion, beauty, and apparel world, Aunni’s modeling, makeup artistry, and design expertise ranges from runway, hair shows, theatre make up, luxury cosmetics, retail cosmetic sales, costume design, semi-formal/bridal/prom dress design, alterations, and dance performance.  As an educator, Aunni has advised the high school pre-engineering students for the National Society of Black Engineers Jr. (NSBE Jr.) chapter at C.H. Flowers high School for 4 years. Aunni prepared students for national and award winning recognition each year leading to the 2007 Try-Math-A-Lon World Competition title along with other awards and scholarship recognition.  As a consultant and industrial engineer, Aunni’s professional experience includes working for companies such as the USA Science & Engineering Festival, Department of Navy, Booz Allen & Hamilton and Metropolitan Washington, Airports Authority.  Aunni holds an MBA in Marketing from Capella University with a focus in luxury products, and a BS in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University. Aunni is currently pursuing an MFA in Fashion Design at the Academy of Art University.
