Gorgeous textures, unique patterns, bright colors, and fully flowing, sexy looks hit the runway at a recent Spring 2010 fashion show hosted by ESSENCE & Bloomingdales. The two global entities came together for an evening of exciting and forward-thinking fashion at Bloomingdales White Flint in Maryland. All high fashion apparel and accessories were selected by Stephany Greene, University of the District of Columbia Fashion Program founder, final coordination and fashion oversight was provided by ESSENCE Editor-At-Large Mikki Taylor before the show. Greene and Taylor prepped models with floral print jackets with textured charcoal skirts, luminescent sequin tops with muted floral skirts, bright one-of-a-kind print A-line dresses, classic Safari styles in warm Khaki colors, flowing maxi-dresses, and unique accessories including bright stones, rings, flats, platform peep-toe heels, and sleek clutches. Tia Hebron, Global Beauty Educator for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics joined Taylor on stage for commentary on the latest fashion and beauty looks. Bobbi Brown cosmetics was used on all the models, a globally known product line offering a wide variety of coverage for women of color that features natural, beautiful cheek and lip colors for a flawless Spring look. Models, provided by Lynda Erkiletian's THE Artist Agency, represented women of all ages with various ethnic beauty and style. Hors d’oeuvres and champagne were served to privileged guests at this standing room only show.
Taylor, Hebron, and Greene opened the floor for questions at the end of the show to help guests locate the trendy finds and identify the apparel and accessory designers. Three lucky ladies were randomly selected to receive Bloomies door prizes, proudly awarded by Susan Cannaday, general manager of the White Flint fashion anchor. Photography was captured by New Yorker Colin Williams for Essence Magazine; Don Napoleon of Gearshift Productions captured photography and video footage for Greene and her blog Politicsofstyle.com that is featured on Essence.com.
