How do you sit next to Russ Parr, radio show producer of the 10 year syndicated Russ Parr Morning Show, also feature film producer, radio/TV personality and parody recording artist “Bobby Jimmy”, without wondering if he’s going to crack a joke on you? You don’t. How do you anticipate what Parr would say to expose the hilarious side of some unfortunate realism affecting everyone everywhere, knowing his show airs in 24 markets? You don’t. How do you know if this 30 year radio legend and comedian would say the very things you would never say out loud, making you blush? You don’t. Although I didn’t either, I had to take my chances to find out the latest on Parr’s upcoming flick 35 and Ticking, Red Carpet Premiere on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at the historic Lincoln Theater in Washington, DC.
Four main characters take lead in telling the story of 35 and Ticking, a complex story of lifelong friends who reveal the vulnerability, innate survival and longing desire we will all experience as we approach 35 years old. Tamala Jones, in the role of Victoria, is a married to a man that doesn’t want children; Nicole Ari Parker, playing Zenobia, is still looking for a family man that wants to have kids; Kevin Hart as Cleavon, is a man who hasn’t found a woman to have children with; and Keith Robinson, in the role of Phil, is a married guy whose wife is not interested in being the devoted wife and mother. All are approaching 35 and put into action by Parr’s revelations and interpretations of men and women he has been moved by in over 30 years of radio, television, and film. Known for his satire and barefaced criticism on-air without regret or apology, Parr expects 35 and Ticking to take you on an unstoppable roller coaster ride of laughter, excitement and heartache that pulls you swiftly up and down while laughing and crying.
Written, produced, and directed by the radio and film producer, Parr promises men and women will see an uncanny glimpse of themselves as they look in the mirror and turn thirty-five.
Through this latest work, Parr aims to reveal a surprisingly compassionate and humorously responsive outlook on life, love, relationships and family. Supporting actors expected to affect the stories told in 35 and Ticking with surprise and laughter include Meagan Good, Clifton Powell, Darius McCrary, Dondre Whitfield, Luenell Campbell, Jill Marie Jones, Wendy R. Robinson, and Aaron Spears. Let’s all see what happens as we get “Up to Parr” with Russ in his new and exciting 4th feature film 35 and Ticking.
