Summer Fashion Fun by Tracy Reese! Fantastic Summer Dresses for Those Who Want to "Go Green" or Cockatoo Blue-Green, That Is!

In a recent CNN interview, Emmy-Award winning stylist David Zyla said Tracy Reese is "a talented designer with the perfect mix. The balance is fantastic," says Zyla, who was also quoted as saying her collection has "just enough theatricality to it to make the pieces stand out, yet they don't look like costumes."

Inspired by artwork and nature, award-winning designer Reese, also a board member of the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), is profiled in the Pantone Fashion Color Report for Spring 2012, where the color Cockatoo (below left), is featured as a Spring color "sure to make your spirits soar." This season Reese has used Cockatoo, a tactile blue-green, in her collection, sketches, inspirations, web design featurettes, and recent Mother's Day promotions!

When checking out Reese's Summer 2012 collection myself, I was inspired by several dresses that brought out the "Green" in me. Some of my favs are the grass green patterns, ginger & green floral prints, color-blocked shifts, multi-colored stripes in fun rainbow pastels, jasmine green mini-dresses, sea green embellished cardigans and flowy draped skirts. The list goes on and on! These fun fashionable pieces are sure to rock your world!

"The Bride" Easter Production by Evangel Cathedral

What an awesome day at Evangel Cathedral this past Saturday! I was blessed to see "The Bride" production and interview Fred Hammond, featured gospel male artist in the performance, legendary gospel great, anointed man of God. "The Bride" is a FABULOUS stage play produced by Evangel Cathedral.

The production brings together great music, song, dance, acting, and set design, all to tell the story about the growth, maturity, and marriage of the bride of Christ. I spent the afternoon enjoying the musical production and learning more about Fred Hammond. I made Fred hot tea (twice - lol), interviewed him for the Afro American Newspaper, listened to the new music Fred will release this fall, a CD of love songs, and shared my thoughts with a focus group of friends.

Over the course of the day, I served Fred a specific hot tea, Organic Throat Coat tea with 2 honey packets, he graciously accepted my service. I spent time talking with Fred about "why God", his relationship through prayer, and the power of the gifts of the Spirit.

Fred's responses were genuine and thought provoking. He says God chose him to choose God. When he found out he could sing, Fred chose to use his gifts of singing and writing to be an effective witness and tell the story of Christ and salvation. As a man with an intimate prayer life, Fred not only speaks to God in his heavenly language, but he communicates constantly with God at any moment and any time, and God speaks back, at any moment, any time. In regards to the new generation of believers, Fred urges those who discern the gifts to seek them. As a minstrel and psalmist, Fred says "the gifts are alive and well in Christ".

That's all I can share for now, I am overwhelmed with delight about the new music Fred shared with my friends and me on Saturday afternoon. Fred has a kind heart and is a man pure in the Spirit of God. I wish him blessings as he moves forth in the work God has planned for him. My new friend, Fred Hammond.

"2011 PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR"

Rebbie's 2011 Pick Up the Phone Tour kicks off in Washington, DC this weekend! I had the pleasure of meeting Rebbie Jackson and her husband of 40 years, Nathaniel Brown, yesterday evening at a meet & greet for her 40 city kick off tour to promote Pick Up the Phone, a suicide prevention non profit organization that provides certified phone counseling to those struggling with mental illnesses, specifically bi-polarism. Rebbie's 33 year old daughter Yashi is the reason for this 40 city tour and global outreach to support Pick Up the Phone. Yashi is a talented dance artist and poet who was diagnosed with bi-polarism 10 years ago.

Rebbie will be headlining a special concert performance at the Duke Ellington Theatre this Friday, February 25, 2011, 730 pm, not only in support of Pick Up the Phone, but also in support of Dance Institute of Washington, one of my FAV places to study modern dance!

Along with performing her famous 1984 hit, "Centipede", Rebbie will also perform other Jackson family favorites. She shared with me the song she looks forward to performing is Michael Jackson's "Fever"! Rebbie held back tears just mentioning this.

Rebbie also shared with me she believes in the love of family and supporting family. Through Pick Up the Phone, she desires to support not only those struggling with mental illnesses like bi-polarism, also those who contemplate suicide; it is a devastating thought of those who suffer from mental illnesses including depression, schizophrenia, and bi-polarism.

Rebbie and Nathaniel's daughter Yashi has published her book of 77 poems titled "Black Daisy in a White Limousine". Available at Amazon, the book sells for $9.99, available in Amazon Kindle and Adobe PDF format only!

Russ Parr's 35 and Ticking Premiere Nov 3 2010

It was an exciting night Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at Russ Parr's 35 and Ticking VIP Red Carpet Reception at Ben's Next Door and the Red Carpet Screening at the historic Lincoln Theater in Washington, DC.

Here's a photo of Clifton Powell and Antonio the Cuban Cigar Smoker after an on-air interview with WKYS personality Angie Ange. Powell greeted the 93.9 FM team, and had everyone in tears laughing as he cracked jokes and made hilarious impressions on the radio!

Powell's role in this romantic and funny flick, 35 and Ticking, provides comic relief as an unsuitable Internet date for headliner Nicole Ari Parker, playing Zenobia, a woman in her mid 30s, looking for love and babies.

Get "UpToParr" and look for 35 and Ticking in DVD soon. It's hilarious, you gotta see it!
