Andrea “Aunni” Young is a published celebrity journalist, fashion and beauty expert, style columnist, and professional model. Aunni is also an inspirational personality in broadcast and social media. Adding to her many accomplishments, Aunni created “Rocking That Style! Aunni’s Fashion and Beauty Column”, published in the Afro American Newspaper at www.afro.com. Aunni has also styled models and commentated fashion segments seen on CBS WUSA9 Great Day Washington morning show. For Black History Month, Aunni interviewed the 14th Smithsonian Secretary, Lonnie G. Bunch for the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH).
Aunni is the founder and designer of Aunni Y Design. She is a creative with more than 20 years’ experience as a fashion designer, dress maker, alterations specialist, illustrator and artist, and make-up artist. Aunni is skilled in luxury fashion, bridal and costume design. She has been represented by Wilhelmina/Modelogic Model and Talent Agency. Aunni’s modeling, makeup artistry and design expertise ranges from runway, hair shows, theatre make up, luxury cosmetics, costume design, semi-formal/bridal/prom dress design, alterations, and dance performance. Aunni is also a fashion professor at Howard University.
In the media world, Aunni has been a published journalist for more than ten years, writing high profile social, fashion, community, political, and arts & entertainment news stories for the Afro American Newspaper, a Washington, D.C. and Baltimore national outlet that targets the African American and related urban communities.
Aunni also serves as a broadcast reporter and red carpet host for the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA), i.e. the Black Press, and is the official Twitter & Periscope host for ASALH Black History Month. Aunni has also delivered special reports on WHUR Radio, DC Cable, TBD Channel 8 (All Over Washington), and YouTube with community leaders and high-profile business professionals.
Aunni holds an MBA in Marketing from Capella University, 3.94/4.0 GPA, with a focus in luxury apparel products and a BS in Industrial Engineering (cum laude) from North Carolina A&T State University. Aunni is completing an MFA in Fashion Design at the Academy of Art University, 3.24/4.0 GPA, expected graduation Summer 2021.

EDUCATION, STEM and NSBE
As an educator, Aunni has advised the high school pre-engineering students for the National Society of Black Engineers Jr. (NSBE Jr.) chapter at C.H. Flowers high School for four years. Aunni has prepared NSBE Jr. students for national and award-winning recognition each year leading to the 2007 Try-Math-A-Lon World Competition title along with other awards and scholarship recognition. As a consultant and industrial engineer, Aunni’s professional experience includes working for companies such as the USA Science & Engineering Festival, Department of Navy, Booz Allen & Hamilton and Metropolitan Washington, Airports Authority. Continuing her consultancy in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), Aunni also performed marketing and public relations Director for TransSTEM Academy at Cardozo Senior High School in Washington, DC.
